Teaching Philosophy Statement

Ever since I can remember, it seems that I have always been around children. I am the oldest of two siblings, whom I have always taken care of. I have also always been one to want to help others, and share information I know, just as I have been with them. As we grew up, I got more opportunities to take care of and teach children. Because of these first experiences, my passion for children rooted there.
Teaching is about forming relationships. Through mission opportunities, I have been able to form relationships with many children over the past several years. My home church is very involved in missions and children’s ministries and being in the youth enabled me to travel to Illinois and Nebraska and help with VBS programs there, as well as …show more content…

I may minor in art to help further my chances of getting hired as well. After I graduate, I honestly hope to teach in the community I was taught in my entire life and give back to my students just as fantastically as my teachers did for me. My dream -even though it may be unrealistic in this day and age- is to teach at the same place for as many years as I possibly can that feels like home to me. I never want to change my career, and my main goal is to keep teaching till I retire. Teaching will be a lifelong love for me.
I hope one day to be able to take a mission trip to a third world country, whether it be in college or after, or even in retirement, and teach the children in that country. I would love to teach them English or Math, while also spreading the gospel to them. I feel that my experience in the classroom will better prepare help for the struggles that I may face in that.
I believe that as humans, we are constantly hungering for more knowledge in our everyday lives, whether we realize it or not. I think an individual never stops learning. As a teacher, I want to grow in knowledge with my students. When I look back at my life in the future, I just want to know that I made a difference, in at least one person’s life.
