I believe each child is unique and deserves to receive the best education they can. Teaching is a very compassionate profession, and isn’t your typical forty hour Monday through Friday job. Today’s children are the future of our society, and as a future educator it is my desire to prepare those children for their future by encouraging respect, having an informal classroom, and allowing the student’s thinking process to help shape the classroom. Children are our future, and I believe the first step in getting them prepared is by having respect for themselves personally, peers and adults among them, and for all other things in their lives. In order for a student to respect me, I need to show the student that I respect them. As a future educator I plan to fully explain what is expected of them from me, so that they understand. Also by showing respect for their time and effort on assignments, and that I appreciate them. A classroom should be a place where the student feels comfortable with his or her surroundings including the teacher and other classmates. By having an informal classroom, the students won’t be sitting by the same person everyday which will lead to more interaction among themselves. Children become more active learners when they are doing hands on learning, which I believe an informal classroom represents. They have the ability to get up and freely move around without being told to sit back down in their “assigned” seat. As a future teacher I want the students to want to learn and to be happy to be there.
