I want to become a teacher because I want to be able to inevitably change the world. I am constantly looking to help others, and to be able to do that with children. I look forward to seeing how my teachings positively affect my students. To be able to come home every night, after helping students fully maximize their talents, and bring out their best skills, knowing that I made a difference, will be rewarding.
Teaching elementary school will allow me to seek professional growth. Many of my past teachers have been professional role models for me and I want to do the same. Some of the great qualities I learned from my past teachers is to remain firm with students, but also be compassionate and treated everyone with equality. I consider myself a hardworking and self-motivated individual who enjoys facing challenges and finding a professional way of teaching. During my undergraduate career, I participated in a club for the homeless that helped provide services such as food and helping them transition them into a comfortable environment which included homeless children.
As a future elementary school teacher, I want to be able to work in urban populations and find solutions for families that are facing financial difficulties. I have participated in an internship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and learned about inspiring children. I gained more skills such as empathy and assessing people on a personal level. Many of these empathetic skills are important to show in a classroom, especially because children are vulnerable and need support when they are struggling with assignments. I am applying to the Masters in Arts Teaching program the University of Southern California because it will give me the tools I need in order to change children’s
