My desire to become a teacher comes from the passion to make the lives of others of higher quality. One day when I have students of my own, I will push all of them to their full potential. My goal as a teacher is to make every student feel appreciated and welcome in the classroom. I've know for quite some time that education is the perfect major for my future.
During my freshman year of highschool I was introduced to a club called Best Buddies. Best buddies is a multiple disabilities classroom where you maybe become a role model and friends with the students. Being able to see progress within every student is very special for me. Knowing that I am apart of building them up to their full potential is life changing. All of the students have the purest hearts. When parents communicate with you on how thankful they are for the efforts you put toward their students, it's a great feeling. Each student means the world to me and has changed my future. Mrs. Winkel, the teacher of the multiple disabilities classroom has also contributed to my passion of becoming a teacher. She loves what she does which makes it not feel like work. Mrs. Winkel handles every situation, good or bad, with a calm approach and knows how to fix problems. She is very respectful and considerate to all students and aids in her class. She has acted as a flawless role model for me. Majoring in special education has encouraged me to come to school more often to see the students more. Knowing that I am making a difference in each one of their lives in astonishing. It warms my heart to know that these kids with multiple disabilities could potentially grow up and go to college or get a job just like their peers. Teaching in general is very important to me.
