Interpersonal skills branch out beyond the scope of business, into every aspect of our lives, in regards to how to communicate and interact with others. The primary focus of these skills center around people, individually or in groups. Individuals who have mastered these skills are usually considered confident, collected and generally optimistic. In addition to being of value in one's daily affairs, there is good reason for employers to seek out employees who possess these skills, because these individuals want to be apart of the team and collaborate in effective communications with fellow workers and clients. In this final example of interpersonal skills, we have a Shift Manager for a local taco fast food establishment who wants her team's sales to set a new record for the store. By preparing the information needed to explain the goal, she sets out to encourage the members on the team to meet it through positive reinforcement and support. Each individual will have to be brought on board to achieve the goal, so she directs her coaching of each individual according to their specific needs of accomplishment and reward.
