The US Constitution was not accepted by the people of the United States until they added a Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights are the first 10 rights given to all American Citizens. It is seen as the ten most rights for every American citizen.
Amendment 2: A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
This is written in the US constitution, a right that the founding fathers of America believed all Americans should have. Guns should not be more restricted because people commit crimes not guns, more laws won’t stop people, and many people against guns are uninformed.

A chart released in 2008 by the The Department of Justice- Federal Bureau of Investigation in shows some interesting and telling data. It shows that in the years 2004-2008 there were 1158 homicides committed using “weapons,” weapons is classified as it was used as a weapon. This is an even broader group as it includes knives, other cutting instruments and other dangerous weapons. Out of these 1158 homicides committed over the course of five years only 35 homicides were committed using a personal weapon, as in it belonged to them legally. That means that 0.03% of the homicides committed from 2004-2008 were committed with a personal weapon. That means that that there could have been 578 more homicides committed using a personal weapon and the data would still support that most crimes are not committed with a personal, legal firearm. Now this raises the question, why should there be more laws placed on firearms that aren’t even being used by criminals for the most part? Why should law-abiding citizens legally purchasing firearms for non criminal activity be punished? Why should law-abiding citizens be stripped of hobby or sport because the government wants to limit criminal activity via firearm when more than 98% of homicides are committed with an illegal firearm? Unfortunately this isn’t the case. Supporters of gun control say that the widespread availability of firearms has made it easier for criminals and people with mental illness to perpetrate tragic mass shootings. They also say that guns aren’t needed by the public cause the only thing they do it promote crime and violence. "The data shows that guns are used in... violent acts about 500,000 times a year.
