The US Constitution was not accepted by the people of the United States until they added a Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights are the first 10 rights given to all American Citizens. It is seen as the ten most rights for every American citizen.

A chart released in 2008 by the The Department of Justice- Federal Bureau of Investigation in shows some interesting and telling data. It shows that in the years 2004-2008 there were 1158 homicides committed using “weapons,” weapons is classified as it was used as a weapon. This is an even broader group as it includes knives, other cutting instruments and other dangerous weapons. Out of these 1158 homicides committed over the course of five years only 35 homicides were committed using a personal weapon, as in it belonged to them legally. That means that 0.03% of the homicides committed from 2004-2008 were committed with a personal weapon. That means that that there could have been 578 more homicides committed using a personal weapon and the data would still support that most crimes are not committed with a personal, legal firearm. Guns are used defensively about four times more then that number, about 2 million times a year. And quite often, they're merely brandished, not even fired. The deterrent [preventive] purpose of guns, the possession of guns by people who want to defend themselves, is what we have to preserve and what now the Supreme Court has [told] us the constitution does, in fact, preserve." -Robert Levy. This commonly shared viewpoint of many gun supporters can quickly be overturned by Robert Levy. They say that readily available firearms are the reason people are committing crimes and that they aren’t used for anything else. This is not true people commit crimes with guns is ¼ of the amount of times people prevent violence using crimes. This shows that many gun control supporters have unaccurate statements that misinform the majority of the
