To begin with, if people want to get ahold of a gun and commit evil crimes with it, they can and will if it is their desire. Laws are not going to stop people from using guns unlawfully. Growing up, I did not live in a dangerous area, but I had cousins who did. I looked at a website, and it showed the following A site that I looked up gives this statistic, “a 1997 U.S. Department of Justice survey found that 8.4% of state prison inmates who used or possessed a firearm during the offense for which they were incarcerated obtained the gun from the illegal market” (Giffords). Laws don’t apply to criminals. If gun control laws are meant to keep people from shooting each other, then it is a waste of time. Criminals are deemed as such because they break the law and are not afraid to do it. Criminals are the way they are because that is what they choose to do. Even if a criminal has a mental illness, they commit crimes because they want to do so. Lots of people have a mental illness, but very few of them commit the crimes. Until criminals choose to change, they will be criminals, and the rest of us make a huge mistake to ignore that simple fact. Therefore, gun control laws do not affect (most of) these
