Do you think it is fair that someone who did a third of the work that you do can still receive the same diploma as you? The state of Kentucky allows this with homeschoolers. Some homeschooled kids do not get the same education as you because their parents are in control of their education. There are homeschooled students that do not have as much knowledge as you but still get into better colleges than you. Due to this unfair treatment, students that are under the age of eighteen and are homeschooled should have to take a state test every other year to prove they are getting a true and equal education as you. About 5,000 Kentucky teens quit school early per year according to the Kentucky website. But, teenagers can find a loophole for almost anything. One loophole of this mandate is to convince their parents to “homeschool” them. Those students that have convinced their parents to sign the papers, may not even be getting taught. A solution to get rid of this loophole is to have the homeschooled kids take a state test every other year, just to make sure they are actually being taught by their parents. Why has nothing been done about this discrimination? If the State of Kentucky wants to care so much about our education at a public school, then they should also care about the homeschooled students that should be working to get an education as well.
