Sustainability in business is the social, environmental, and economic responsibilities integrated into corporate social responsibilities (CSR) within the company (Sexty, 2013). Tim Hortons, being a triple bottom line company, gives back to society in a variety of different ways. A large focus of the company is the development of its social economy, through it’s charitable organizations. Their most prominent charity is the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation, which was Introduced in 1974. The non-for-profit works to create an enlightening camp experience for economically disadvantaged homes. As stated by the organization itself, “When they return home from camp, they bring with them a more positive attitude about their future and confidence to achieve the goals they learned to set for themselves at camp.” In addition, the company funds the Timbits minor sports program, providing underprivileged children with the opportunity to play a variety of sports by subsidizing local associations to help purchase the necessary equipment and uniforms needed. To give back, Tim Hortons launched a partnership in 2005, with a goal of improving the quality of life for the farmers in the region. Currently, Tim Hortons is working on four specific projects, taking place in Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala and Honduras. These four project will help the farmers tackle the constantly changing terrains of the market, by improving their skills. These skills will be applicable to help survive the poor economic downturns and flourish during the inclines.
