On the surface, the University of Florida prevails as one of the top ten public universities in the United States and one of the best colleges in the world. However, "a rose by any other name would smell as sweet". Aside from UF's impressive titles, the University offers outstanding opportunities that suit my academic goals and living situation.

Primarily, I chose to apply to UF for its high academic standard. As I plan to major in Biochemistry, I am delighted by UF's standing at #6 in Biological/Agricultural education on U.S. News. UF boasts an abundance of undergraduate research experiences in both the academic year and summer. The internship I completed last summer in a laboratory for molecular photonics gave me hands-on practice and pragmatic knowledge and solidified my choice to pursue a career in biochemistry. From peer review to group work, collaboration acts as a backbone. Fortunately, UF's large campus and diverse student body provide a fertile ground where I can cultivate valuable interdisciplinary and interpersonal skills. The tight-knit, yet expansive, characteristic of UF's community and its various academic disciplines will facilitate my goal of becoming a multi-faceted scientific researcher.
