I am most attracted to Loma Linda University’s mission to make man whole and continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ and its commitment to faith and science. As a Seventh-day Adventist christian, the motto to make man whole has never been more personal than it is now. As I grow in my experience as a christian, to further the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus continues to take center stage. This mission and an understanding of the need for whole person care is something I seek to demonstrate and encourage through my profession as a nurse and involvement in my community.
When I think of theology, I instantly want to break the word down. I have a science background and understand unfamiliar words by looking at their parts. For me, theology is theo- or God and -ology or the study of. From this, I understand theology to be the study of God. Studying God is most familiar to me as something that members of the historical clergy had the freedom to indulge in all the time.
As a prospective member of the Masters of Arts in History program at Liberty University I hope to accomplish several things. I am currently serving as a high school history teacher and this program will benefit both my students and myself alike in the foreseeable future. This includes reaching the goals of earning my master’s degree which will result in a higher level of professional knowledge in my content area, while increasing my income simultaneously. This is not the only positive factor, Liberty’s program will also contribute directly to growth in regards to my relationship with Jesus Christ.
As I think of the University of Mississippi, the aspect that most impresses me, and is an addition to my desire to immerse myself in this prominent learning community is the University's outstanding resources. I am very attracted to the opportunity to explore and learn at the University of Mississippi's science departments. Science has been my academic passion ever since I entered middle school. Since then, I have always wanted to get into the medical field to become a neurologist. I believe the brain is a black box with endless mysteries waiting to be explored.
My job as a patient care technician allowed me to care for numerous individuals from a variety of backgrounds. Through this experience, I came to the realization that I loved people. I loved hearing their stories and the secret hopes and fears they would share with me in the dead of the night. I realized that I wanted to have a career where I could not only help people, but learn from them as well. I believe a career in the healthcare field would allow me to do this.
I want to apply to UW-Madison because of my love for learning how humans work through psychology. As a child, I was always faced with the same question, “Why did they do that?” From then on, I always found myself analyzing every aspect from any angle I could. When I began taking social and government classes, another interest of mine, I found every point easier to understand because of my knowledge of psychology. UW became my number one because my mental health care team all have degrees from your school.
Throughout the college application process, it has become increasingly evident to me that NYU is unlike other schools due to its prioritization of individuality. Coming from a small Catholic high school, one of my goals for the next four years is to branch out and better myself through being a part of a diverse and open-minded student body. The diversity of culture, religion, opinion, and even personality at NYU is extremely important to me, and shows that the school is an open and accepting environment for all. The tradition of Ally Week especially interests me, as I am constantly trying to use the privileges I have been given to the advantage of those who do not share those same privileges. All along, I have managed to maintain the principles of ethics and integrity, a strong sense of purpose, and morality, which binds me rigidly. Appointment as student leader in all stages of my school and college life has presented me with opportunity to interact with people, develop organizational and communication skills. My involvement with speech, debate and sports has made me more than just an academic person In the pursuit of excellence and with a passion to reach the highest skills in my discipline, I look upon University of Texas, Arlington a springboard to accomplish my dreams. I am applying to NYU because I want to be in a liberal-arts academic environment with limitless opportunity. By applying to NYU’s Stern school of business I firmly believe that I will be given the education necessary to be successful in my field. I am a marketing major and going to a University, such as NYU, that will enable me to learn about the ever-changing technology utilized in my field is vital. I am also incredibly interested in a digital marketing track. Webdesign, app development, and advertisementing are all fields that interest me greatly, however I had little hands-on experience, which I crave and I know NYU can provide me with.
