Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) has influenced me in many ways. First, it was the school's amazing nursing program. The school of nursing was established in 1953 and it awards undergraduates the bachelor of science degree. WSSU’s nursing program was ranked number 3 in the nation, and is continuing to grow and enhance the program. I have been given the chance to get into the nursing program, with the help from the Guaranteed Admission Program (GAP).
I am most attracted to Loma Linda University’s mission to make man whole and continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ and its commitment to faith and science. As a Seventh-day Adventist christian, the motto to make man whole has never been more personal than it is now. As I grow in my experience as a christian, to further the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus continues to take center stage. This mission and an understanding of the need for whole person care is something I seek to demonstrate and encourage through my profession as a nurse and involvement in my community.
Without a doubt, OU-HCOM provides an excellent medical education with numerous learning opportunities for research and clinical work at Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital. The unique location of OU-HCOM in Cleveland, an urban area with a diverse patient population will expose me to countless experiences that will help mold me into a more well-rounded, compassionate, and skilled physician. I want a school in an urban environment with a diverse patient population that will prepare me to practice medicine in a similar setting. Being a Volunteer at Beaumont Hospital, I was privileged to work with diverse groups of volunteers and people. I converse with them and develop new friendships that exposed me to many traditions and cultures I had been unaware of.
My job as a patient care technician allowed me to care for numerous individuals from a variety of backgrounds. Through this experience, I came to the realization that I loved people. I loved hearing their stories and the secret hopes and fears they would share with me in the dead of the night. I realized that I wanted to have a career where I could not only help people, but learn from them as well. I believe a career in the healthcare field would allow me to do this.

I had a bachelor of Economics in my home country, but when my family moved to U.S from Vietnam two years ago, I realized that I like accounting and have good opportunities in this field, I decided to go back UNK to earn the bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting Emphasis.
As a child, I was never aware of my family’s financial struggles. My parents divorced when I was 12 and money became the central issue in my life. I found myself worrying about mortgages, health bills, and grocery money at a very young age. As I continued to grow, I vowed to myself that I would not struggle financially the way my parents had to. I want to escape the socioeconomic status I was born into, which is why I am pursuing a post-secondary education.
I was born in Guadalajara Jalisco and raised on a small ranch called Atemajac de Brizuela. My dad left when I was small kid, but came back when I was three years old. One year later my sister was born. Once my sister was born my dad decided to come to the United States because he knew that he had better opportunities here than in Mexico. Four years after that I came to the U.S.A at the age of nine not knowing a single word of English.
Boston University is a place where I know I could thrive. BU has so many different opportunities which interest me, from the Modular Medical Integrated Curriculum, to the 90 different abroad programs, and even the whole undergraduate research opportunities program. Besides the programs that BU has that attract me, from what I’ve deduced from current students, admissions officers, and a visit to the school, I think I would fit well within the school community and its atmosphere. I am an individual who is globally minded with an insatiable thirst for learning. I want to do, create, and discover.
Georgetown Universities National Center for Cultural Competence describes health as “a relative state in which one is able to function well physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually in order to express the full range of one's unique potentialities within the environment in which one is living”(Georgetown). This definition of health resonates with me greatly. Growing up I was never an overall healthy child, in fact, the complete opposite I was quite unhealthy and overweight for the majority of my youth. However once I became more health aware I continuously worked to improve my health. Even as I made great strides in my physical health I felt as though I were still not “healthy”.
In the medical field, there are many people whom play an important role, such as administrative staff, doctors, nurses, physician assistants, surgeons and technicians. Without all of these essential people, medical care would not be efficient as it is today. Nurses are an essential part of the medical team. There are not enough nurses to take care of the population. Some individuals become nurses to have job security and think it is an easy career.
A Middlebury Institute degree in translation would assist me in helping others learn English, promote cross-cultural exchange, foster stronger U.S.-Japan ties, and learn more about Japanese culture. I believe that my experience teaching English in Fiji and being an ALT on the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program coupled with my educational background in Japanese language and culture will help me achieve these goals. In 2016, I became a participant of the JET Program as an assistant language teacher (ALT) after applying for the third time. Toyo Town in Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture became my new home for three years.
My interests for the implications of human behavior were found during my first psychology introductory course during freshman year of college. It was not until I enrolled in a Brain and Behavior course that I learned I was only scratching the surface of what I know now is my passion for psychology. My personal interest revolves around the possibility to monitor and track neuronal behavior and how that same behavior works in a circuit feeding off neurotransmission, ending in physical behavior. Furthermore, how that process can serve in preemptive measures in helping ameliorate many child mental disorders. This aspect of psychology truly sparks curiosity in my academic life leading me to want to go further than theory.
My greatest contribution to society, in the future, would be to help feed the hungry people of the world. In 2050 we will need to feed an estimated 9.7 billion people. This would mean our agriculture production will need to increase by 100%. It is a goal of mine to help feed all future generations with my contribution to the Poultry Science industry, from my home state. Arkansas is one of the top ranked poultry producing state in the United States of America.
Introduction: The process of communicating successfully with our family, friends, co-workers, business associates and people is one of the most critical skills. Communication is such a key part of life that I often tell to a person that “Its no use of someone if he/she really don’t know by associates people in their work place or area of field”. Communication makes us to be known of others, good or bad that depends on usability of a person communication. And, it is up to each of us to learn to communicate well with those who are important to us.
