"Why UPenn? It's so far away," my mother said. "There is a college just 11 miles away, right across the street from Kenny's old farm." Throughout my high school career, I have always been asked I was set on UPenn. In fact, it has been the "hot topic" at my family's Thanksgiving table for the past four years. My answer has remained the same: UPenn offers students an ability to immerse through various applications of learning – not just from the conventional textbook. In addition, the unique Philly location helps me gain an academic and career perspective that is significantly different from the plains of Texas.
Living half of my life in Nepal (a third-world country), I have witnessed the throes of poverty, which constantly serves as a reminder that I have a rare opportunity to make something of myself here in the U.S. Soon, I found the business realm was this opportunity. For the past four years, I have spent hours studying the business administration process and ultimately made it my goal to successfully lead one. When I researched more, I found the school offers a learning possibility incomparable to any other in the nation and perhaps the world. Whereas with many universities there are limited learning methods, UPenn offers possibilities beyond the conventional textbook.
