Objective Is there a difference in System 1 and System 2 involved with decision-making in individuals with high emotional intelligence and low emotional intelligence?
In effortful decision-making, System 2 will show more activity than System 1. In automatic decision-making, System 1 will show more activity than System 2. Additionally, individuals with high emotional intelligence will use more social information from their surroundings in decision-making than individuals with low emotional intelligence.
Background
Recent literature analyzes the relationship between emotional intelligence and various types of decision-making, such as emotional, tactical, career, ethical, leadership, and health care (Alkozei et al., 2016; Brabec et al., 2012; Fallon et al., 2014). Literature also demonstrates how the EEG has been used in measuring components of trait emotional intelligence, such as optimism and self-esteem (Alessandri et al., 2015; De Pascalis, et al., 2013).

They will be compensated with a monetary value. The study will be conducted in two phases. In the first phase, participants will complete an emotional intelligence inventory and demographic survey. The emotional intelligence inventory will be divided into two groups, high emotional intelligence and low emotional intelligence, by quartiles. Participants will not be informed of their group status in order to maintain the authenticity of the groups. In the second phase, participants will be connected to the 64-Channel EEG while performing the tasks of decision-making. The tasks of decision-making will be operationally defined, by the experimenter, as a System 1 or System 2
