College Spending
Intro: How would you feel if I told you one of the reasons your college tuition is so high is because of the amount of money put into sports programs, especially football and basketball? Some programs even pay coaches more than professional coaches, even though college sports are considered amatuer events. Due to the fact that college prices are raising , Universities should cut spending on college coach salaries and funding for the sports programs and redirect that money towards academics.
Intro:Picture a world where now one can afford except for the top 1% can attend college. This is not really that crazy because that is where we are headed. The price of college is rising each year and one of the reasons is because of the money put into sports programs . This is why we should cut some of the athletic salaries and move that money into scholarship.
On average Division 1 college football and basketball coaches coaches make on average 1.6 million dollars, and at the most they make roughly 7.1 million dollars. There are only three NFL and two NBA coaches that make more than that, which is unbelievable considering college sports contain amateur, and not professional

These schools also spend six times as much money per athlete than for students. This is not fair to students that are paying to attend a certain university because they are not receiving the full value and benefits that school could offer. Although some people argue that sports bring in donations from boosters and increased applications, cutting just a fraction of the costs of sports would free up thousands of dollars that could be put back into scholarships for students, reducing student
