magine walking into a lab full of mutilated animals. All that can be seen are animals locked up in cages full of fear, anxiety, and stress. On lab tables there are animals cut open, surrounded by scientists, being poked and prodded. All that is heard are the whimpers and cries of the animals. This is the scene of an animal testing lab. This unsettles many people and causes them to think if animal testing should really be happening in the United States today. Most animals in labs are not treated carefully or with respect. For example, in an article about research on animals it states “animals are held in sterile isolated cages, forced to suffer disease and injury, or euthanised at the end of the study” (“Results from Research on Animals Are Not Valid When Applied to Humans”). The very definition of inhumane is “not human; lacking humanity, kindness, compassion, etc” (“Inhumane”). This is how animals are treated in these labs. They are left alone in cages never getting the chance to live a normal life, in the wild free or with a family having the chance to be loved. Scientists do not give compassion to these animals or care about how they feel they just use them for testing on. By forcing these animal to do experiments when they can't even fight back or argue against what is happening to them, it should be made illegal. Another example of how animal research should not be legal is in a an article about animal testing being bad science it talks about how during animal research animals are put in situations that aren't natural. They are given anxiety and fear inducing diseases that they would never normally have (“Animal Testing Is Bad Science”). These animals are forced to suffer through diseases that they never would have gotten in the wild. They go through so much anxiety and pain. It would make more sense to use animals that were already infected with a disease naturally. It shouldn't be legal to let animals suffer through a sickness that they would not ever have a chance of getting. Animals that are tested on forcefully suffer daily, which should make this illegal in the United
