John Brown killed many innocent people who did not own slaves. According to document E, on November 20th, 1859, Mahala Doyle expressed her anger towards John Brown. John Brown deliberately shot two of her sons and her husband because they were pro-slavery, even though they did not own slaves and weren’t ever going to own them. This shows that John Brown is a villain because he killed almost a whole family that did not own slaves, all because they were pro-slavery.

John Brown was an anti-slave abolitionist who was put to death after pleading guilty of murder, but is he considered a hero or a villain? John Brown is a villain for three simple reason, he murdered many different people, he attacked a federal arsenal, and he could be considered a terrorist. John Brown was an abolitionist who wanted to get rid of slavery in Kansas. When John Brown was 55, he moved to Kansas and played a role in “Bleeding Kansas”. Afterward, he was involved in other events like “The Sacking and Lawrence”, and “The Pottawatomie Massacre”, the last thing he was particularly a part of was the “Raid on Harpers Ferry”. This topic is important because John Brown has done many things for the cause of abolishing slavery. While some people think what he did was heroic, others may think he was a villain.

John Brown was an abolitionist from the North who was raised to think that slavery was a sin. He was so devoted to God, that he broke many laws and killed a lot of white slave owners in order to achieve a "moral end." So in reality, he thought he was doing good and serving God's will, but he was actually costing lives and doing more bad than good. Over the course of his life, he had over twenty children with two wives and John Brown and his sons fought against slavery, which resulted in some sons dying.
