Mr. Bennet should be found not guilty of the murder of Mr. Adams because reasonable doubt exists. Although the prosecution claims he’s guilty, they are incorrect because Mr. Alfaro was an exterminator with access to the poison, Mr. Alfaro left Mr. Adam’s alone 5 minutes before, and many more significant pieces of evidence prove he shouldn’t be convicted of guilt. To begin, Mrs. Reid was Mr. Adam’s closest living relative, and she believed that she would inherit his wealth because of this. She often attempted to spread nasty rumors about Mr. Adams and Mr. Alfaro was brought to the party by Mrs. Reid and both were seen whispering together throughout the evening. The police had noted that Mr Adams had been poisoned with rat poison and that it was found in the cupboard, which was only available to exterminators. During the nice evening, Miss Singleton had seen Mr. Alfaro pour Mr. Adams a cup of coffee 5 minutes before Mr. Adams went into the kitchen and got some cream and sugar. Had Mr. Bennet committed this crime, if so, he would have had access to the type of rat poisoning on his clothes or belongings, which he only had on his hands. …show more content…

Bennet should be found not guilty is that Mrs. Swanson testified that Mr. Adams had poor eyesight and had trouble reading labels. The box of rat poison was found in the kitchen cupboard right next to the box of sugar and was the same size, color, and shape. Mr. Adams could have possibly mistaken the rat poison for the sugar. Mrs. Swanson had testified that Mr. Adams had poor eyesight and had a hard time reading labels, but Mr. Alfaro was the exterminator with the poison and was the only one who had access to the poison. Had Mr. Adams had bad eyesight, if this was true then he wouldn’t know where certain things were in the kitchen and possibly mistaken the poison for
