Dear Jury Members: Mr. Bennett should be seen as not guilty of the crime of murdering Mr. Adams because there is reasonable doubt. The prosecution claims he is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, but this is not true because Mr. Bennett found Mr. Adams' dead body outside, however. Mr. Bennett never went outside during the party; he also was the one to check the pulse of Mr. Adams, which would explain why he had the poison in his hand. Mr. Bennett also had gloves. He would have worn them if he had murdered Mr. Adams. To begin, Mr. Bennett found Mr. Adams' body outside, but he was never outside during the party. Next, Mr. Bennett had gloves with him when Mr. Adams was killed. Mr. Bennett would have worn those gloves if he was the one to kill Mr. Adams so he could cover up the fact he did it, but he wasn’t seen wearing his gloves at all. Mr. Bennett was with his friend most of the party and wasn’t seen wearing his gloves. He also was working very hard to get the money he owed Mr. Adams and if he planned on killing him, he wouldn’t have wasted his time working extra jobs. The prosecution will try to convince you that Mr. Bennett is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, but they failed to provide enough evidence. They will say that Mr. Bennett murdered Mr. Adams out of pure spite because he was angry at him and seen arguing with him. They will also tell you about the poison on his hands, but this doesn’t prove that Mr. Bennett is guilty. There is still reasonable doubt that Mr. Bennett committed this crime. We know that Mr. Bennett only had the poison on his hands because he was checking to see if Mr. Adams was still alive. Mr. Bennett was also with his friend for most of the party and never once had been seen outside, which proved that he couldn’t have killed Mr. Adams. Mr. Bennett is innocent and did not commit the crime
