I think students should not be required to have AR points in schools. AR points take a lot of time to get done and it is taking time away that you could be spending with your family. AR points also cause a lot of stress on students. Another reason is that AR points are for reading and, not all students like to read.
One reason that students should not be required to have AR points in school is because they take away time that you could be spending with your family. Let’s say your family is going on a trip over the weekend and you are going to be leaving on Friday, but your AR points are due on Monday. You could have 10 AR points out of 15, but that is not enough. So you tell your family that you have to get your AR points done over the weekend, so you won’t be able to participate in the activites your family is participating in because you have to read. So, while your family is having “bonding time,” you have to read and miss out on the family memories. AR points can cause stress because there is a time limit on how long you have to finish them. Students already have homework from other classes and that is stressful enough as it is. Adding AR points to all of our school work can make you very stressed. The students that have AR points and don’t get them done on time have to sit out and read while other students get to participate in fun activities.
