I, Morgan Dasch, would be honored to be a part of the Global Issues Living-Learning Community in Market Square South. My two and a half years at Hendrix have given me insight to the world around me and all of the different views that come with social, political, economic, I Hendrix simply because I would like to live in a community with a purpose. I feel that we are currently living in a very divided world and I would like to come together to focus on issues we can all agree on. In doing so, I believe that we can be a true community, united by something bigger than ourselves. For many years, I have been aware of global issues and have done my best to make a difference. While there are many pressing global issues, two issues that I hold near to my heart are food/water security and lack of education. Being a Caucasian, middle class, American citizen, I am so privileged to be able to eat when I am hungry, drink water whenever I am thirsty, and be receiving the amazing education I am at Hendrix College. I’m sure I’m not the only one that would say that if I could fix all the world’s problems, I would in a heart beat. Unfortunately, I can’t fix it on my own. Perhaps even more unfortunately, one Hendrix Living-Learning Community isn’t going to fix all of it either, but our community can make some small differences. If every community made an effort to fight and bring awareness to global issues, we, as a general human community, could make a huge difference and maybe even end some world problems. For me, I believe that the global issues program is the right place for me to start in becoming involved in a united community. I want to be surrounded by peers who share the same hopes and visions for our world and I want to be a part of something bigger than myself. I thank you for your consideration in my acceptance to the Global Issues Living-Learning Community in Market-Square
