Advancements in Technology during the World War II
Mesopotamia pioneered in the development of weapons from bronze. Great Archimedes who is famous for calculating the area under a parabola and estimating the value of Pi, also built siege engines and methods for setting a far off enemy ships on fire using sunlight. English scientist Isaac Newton’s work focused equally on ballistics and astronomy. During the period of 16th and 17th centuries when philosophers celebrated the power of human reason, advancements in military science started. Theses sciences are applied to everything from designing fortresses to measuring the sizes of cannonballs.
The failure of the World Disarmament Conference (1932-1934) is marked the beginning of the arms race leading to World War II. Technology advancement during World War I created a trend towards industrialism. Mass production of weapons and research in advancing the technology of warfare were given a lot of importance . We can point to numerous new inventions and scientific principles that emerged during the war. Inventions in Laser Technology, Aircrafts , Health Care, Radar technology, ballistic missile, cruise missile, Atom Bomb etc shows

Great Britain called it RDF (Range and Direction Finding). While in Germany they called it Freya after Norse God Freyja. In the mid 1940's the Royal Air force in Britain had put them up for Britain’s air defense. While in Germany, they did not use radar a lot, Adolf Hitler did not support the idea.
Radar Technology, which was barely known before the war, became highly sophisticated till its end. Radar engineering also takes the credit for modern communication, Television would not be possible without Radar technology. A system for radar navigation, called LORAN (long-range navigation) was the precursor to today’s satellite-based GPS technology. Meteorologists also used this new technology to track
