Animal abandonment by Milena Ramirez Carreno Have you ever felt bad for animals on the streets? Well, so have lots of others. Animal abandonment is when someone leaves their animal on the streets. It is unfortunate to watch since once they had a happy home, and now they are just roaming the roads. Animal abandonment is a reminder about animals. After all, animals are just like us, they eat, sleep, and breathe like we do. Animals on the streets are a reminder to treat them like how you would treat humans, with kindness and respect. How would you feel if your parents left you alone at home and never returned? This is what some people do to animals and it is not right! Let’s learn more about animal abandonment together! Many animals are abandoned and are constantly on the streets. The animal's life can be severely affected and they can have trauma from that. If the animal shelter picks them up, they might remember the experiences and have a hard time trusting another human to love them again. This happens so often and it’s very sad to see. This can also happen to any other animal. There are various ways that animal abuse can happen. It can happen when producing meat for us humans to eat or hunt. When hunting, humans kill animals by force. This is not okay since it puts the earth in disbalance. Because of this, the Harvard Gazette wrote an article on this issue. As stated in the article, “Whether through the barbarous cruelties of the factory meat industry, through poaching and game hunting, through habitat destruction, through pollution of the air and the seas, or through neglect of the companion animals that people purport to love.” This shows how humans are abusing animals.
