The Texas Tech School of Pharmacy is known for its abundance of clinical hours and would serve as a home and a place for me to achieve my goals. Although I will have graduated college, there are hardships and other factors such as being the first person in the family to have pursued a professional school and feeling a sense of duty to help others in their health that further accentuates my interest in pharmacy. Some of the hardships that I endured for the past few years include the transition from high school to another state in college as well as how to progress through my academic career. I had over an hour commute daily on weekdays from home to school, totalling to about three hours which would have proved beneficial to studying and therefore better grades. I could have leased an apartment, but I wanted to conserve my family’s finances and to graduate with as little debt as possible and I was fortunate enough to have in-state tuition. In college, I only had relied on my peers who were pursuing pharmacy school like me to figure out how to get involved with the profession. I learned how to get a pharmacy technician license and study for their national test and become state certified and obtain my first job through my friends. While certainly not ideal, more effort on my part was needed and to take action to further my academic aspirations. Over the past year, my pharmacists have gave me advice and any recommendations that further fortified our relationship.
