The 21st century so far has been about equality and freedom. Obviously, not everyone is open minded, and those close-minded people judge those who are open about what they do, what and who they are. No matter what, people of the United States never give up and fight for what they believe is right. If you fight hard enough, you might just get what you want. For example, the L.G.B.T. community has made a lot of progress in getting the rights of same sex marriage. It’s one thing to legalize it in a couple of states, but it was a complete shock when the Supreme Court judges legalized it throughout the entire United States on June 26, 2015. The first two states to legalize marijuana were Colorado and Washington. Those states legalized it for recreational use and sell of marijuana. There are shops all over the states where you can buy all types of marijuana. There are many different types of weed you can smoke, but you can also eat it. Marijuana can be combined into almost any sort of food which is more preferable for most people who use it for medical use it for medical use. There are chocolate bars, gummy bears, strawberry lemonade, granola bars, beef jerky, and soooo much more. The ones who are using marijuana to “feel good” most likely enjoy smoking. By making marijuana legal it clearly shows that the United States is trying to further expand the rights that all Americans have. There are a lot of people who think marijuana is just a gateway drug,it might be for some, but for most it’s just a drug that helps them relieve the pain of whatever symptom they have. Those same people who are anti-marijuana probably don’t know about the pros. Marijuana is far less dangerous than alcohol or tobacco. Around 50,000 people die each year from alcohol poisoning. Similarly, more than 400,000 deaths each year are attributed to tobacco smoking. By comparison, marijuana is nontoxic and cannot cause death by overdose. The killing of nine black church members during a Bible study in Charleston changed that sentiment, reigniting calls to bring down Confederate flags and symbols across the nation. By taking down the flag the power that stood with it comes down as well. Taking the flag down shows that the flag no longer is needed because African-Americans are just as equal as a white person. At the confederate memorial there was all types of people who attended, but some weren’t there to support the taking down of the flag. There were a few gray-haired white men at the front of the crowd waving confederate flags. African-Americans have as much freedom as any other racial group.
