Major football and basketball programs are the only ones which make millions of dollars every year. So, only football and basketball players from major programs deserve to get paid, but this is not fair. It would be unreasonable to the other athletes to only pay football and basketball players because they put in just as much work as football and basketball players. All sports programs have a similar schedule, and they are all demanding.
This would establish a fair, equal, and economically smart pay rate for all players throughout the NFL. also this would prevent many situations such as Jamarcus Russell. Another situation this would prevent. Is the situation Johnny Manziel caused for the dreadful Cleveland Browns. He came in a ridiculous and excessive rookie contract that screwed over the browns.
People’s salaries should be based on the job’s economic importance and value to society not based on their talent and ability to play a sport. Teachers, doctors, and the armed forces are all examples of professions that provide valuable services to society. One of the biggest reasons is that the world depends on how well the generations to come are raised and educated. If kids aren’t educated they won’t
Have you ever thought that college players should be paid? I'm asking that question because college athletes are hard workers and should be diverse to be paid. College players put themselves at risk each game they play. College players also bring in a lot of money for the NCAA. College players devote most of their time to training.
There are many people who may agree with this argument but there are also a lot of people who believe it is a bad idea or just don’t want to. Some sports economists were asked if college athletes should be paid, to them they thought it was a pretty obvious answer and not a difficult question (NCAA…). It is not that hard of a question, anyone could answer it because everyone knows the colleges have money and the sports bring in even more money from the events. Even professors decided to get together to talk about this issue and some of them agree that men’s football and basketball players should get paid (NCAA…). There are also former players like Ed O’Bannon and Shane Battier that would like to see the players now, get paid (NCAA..).
Many people believe that it’s unfair that NBA players are paid so much while many professions are not even making a fraction of what they make. NBA players are paid millions a year playing a ball game and this is income inequality. It’s really unfair that many people are doing real work and barely living comfortably. Sports aren’t needed in our world. It’s a fun hobby people could do.
College athletes should get paid to pay because they dedicate a lot of time to their teams, they do not have time for a job, the school receives a great amount of money from the games that they perform in, and a salary would help student-athletes learn how to
In conclusion, athletes should only be paid enough to support themselves and be able to have some luxuries that they deserve. The reasons they should only be paid that much is because it will save the NCAA a substantial amount opposed to if the athletes were paid if they were 4 Works cited professionals. If athletes were paid they would be able to put food on the table and it
Should College Athletes be Paid? Every season, the nation is captivated by the complex world of college athletics. Many teenagers, myself included, love to watch college football and March Madness with friends and family. Aside from college athletics, many people also watch the NBA (National Basketball Association) & NFL (National Football League), and these professional athletes make millions of dollars every single year.
Athletes should get paid the way they are getting paid right now. When people hear about how much pro athletes really make they
Should college athletes be paid? Miles bridges and college athlete who is one of the best in college at basketball turned down millions of dollars and stayed in college. Bridges could have been a top pick in the NBA draft. There are 32,852 college basketball players, in the NBA draft there are only 2 rounds, would get drafted so that means only have of the people from college will be making millions in the NBA. In recent years the debate has came up if college athletes should be paid for there years of being in college.
The first reason college athletes should be paid is because colleges are making all the money and not the players. The Pac 12, a college division, makes three billion dollars a year
Another reason why i think that college athletes should be paid is because the NCAA makes over $800 million just from the March Madness tournament. Besides them getting paid, i think that college life is hard for them because they travel around to a bunch of other states and do not have enough time to attend classes. They are classes that they paid for, and they do not even have the time to attend them sometimes. Athletes like Ben Simmons for example, was a one and done college player and took an NBA contract as soon as it was received to him. He said that not getting paid in
”March Madness is one of the most watched sporting events in the country. Yet the money being made off this event is not trickling down to the players, who are the stars of the tournament.” this shows that in any sport this one being basketball, all the money they make it won’t be for them. The third reason why college athletes should be paid is because it gives them a glimpse at what it is like to have financial expenses and decisions
College athletes should be paid because the NCAA is making money off of the players. The 2013 March of Madness generated $1.15 billion dollars by ticket sales, television ads, jersey sales, and many more (Johnson and Nation). The players did not receive any of the money. This may be true, but look at all the flaws that this point has. Not each division has the powerhouse schools like Division I.
