Approximately 95 percent of the millions of animals used in experiments are mice and rats, with the remaining 5 percent comprised mostly of dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, birds, and non-human primates (chimpanzees, baboons, monkeys, and macaques). Most people in this world think that animal testing is okay, but actually it could be very harmful and deadly for the creatures. Experimenting on animals could lead to that species being endangered. This problem could be solved if scientist experimented on different objects or organisms that would not affect animals and their lives. There is a toxicity test that is performed until fifty percent of the animals are dead. (Animal Experimentation). People feel that this is not necessary because it does not benefit a human in any way by killing half of the research animals in the labs. In the article Animal Experimentation, it talks about animal activists and their thoughts on animal research “Animal rights activists believe that animal experimentation is not necessary for biomedical research.” (Animal Experimentation). As a matter of fact, death is an unavoidable part of the life cycle. (Medical Experiment). It is good news to hear that animals are still getting the least of care for their suffers. Experimenting on animals led to development of treatments for diabetes, rabies, smallpox and much more. (Animal Experimentation). More than a hundred million people in the United States have diabetes and they would probably be dead or really sick if it were not for animals. To summarize, animals do get benefits for getting tested on and if not more than half the U.S. would be gone from illnesses and
