Arguments Against Standardized Testing

Standardized Tests Are standardized tests supposed to control children's lives? Had the creators of the very same tests plained on child stress and counties failing to keep up? Some people support standardized tests and others believe it to be a wast of time and money. I myself believe standardized tests shouldn't be the judge of a child's way of life. It has been said that U.S students have performed poorly in math then the rest of the world. Math may not be the best subject but I know we can do better. Seriously 65 countries take this test and 29 did better then us. The poverty gaps are not being addressed to help U.s students. I understand that some tests have different data and results, but only if a handful kids try and rest fail then this country will not get better. One of the many questions is, should we take standardized tests more seriously? The first country to start standardized tests was Texas and now that very same country, along with many others, are backing off on so much testing. Texas changed from 15 tests to 5 tests so they can start to get a higher testing grade. They have also changed 4 years of math and science, to 3 years. Do these very same tests accurately measure our knowledge or do they just they give us our score by how many answers we get right? In my opinion, standardized tests should be graded on how well we answer the questions. Are standardized tests still well written and valid? From experience, the test questions are sometimes not as easy to understand. But most of the questions were simple to read. For these standardized tests there needs to be a common measure to make sure kids are learning. That common measure will inform the test graders that us the children are indeed learning in school.
