I have always had an interest in the criminal justice field, but my greatest influence was in the eighth grade when a police officer, Michael Owens, gave me my first ever West Virginia Legal Codes book. By giving me this book, he influenced me a lot. He showed me that I could do anything I set my mind and that he believed in me, just by giving me a simple book. Since then, I have committed to my decision of becoming a lawyer and is why I now take Criminal Justice courses at my local technical school.
Shortly after graduation I decided to move to New York City to explore career options. However I remained open to a career in law. Moving to New York City presented challenges, some of which brought me to realize my advocacy potential. When I first moved to New York City I transferred job locations with my current employer Jenny Craig and pursued modeling. I had non-exclusive contracts with multiple agencies and
Recognizing the important role that law serves in an integrated modern society and acknowledging the influence of legal professionals on individuals, institutions, and government; I aspire to become a lawyer to help facilitate a progressive path to universal peace and enjoyment for all and to ensure the protection of the individual’s universal rights and access to public goods, particularly in America and my native Caribbean. While I acknowledge the potential financial benefits inherent in the practice of law, the exigency to pursue this field is a personal challenge and genuinely altruistic. Despite souring optimism, reality suggests it is improbable for any one individual to right all of society’s wrongs. I am not concerned, however, with the results of my efforts in future endeavors. For me, the courage, candor, and excellence of my efforts are more central to my self-fulfillment than the legacy deriving from it.
I am currently working as an LPN rooming patients in an OB/GYN clinic. My job includes taking vitals, updating medical records as necessary, preparing exam rooms for the providers, administering injections and medications per order, and recording signs and symptoms for the providers. I work along side the providers and midwives assisting with procedures. I place OB patients on the non-stress testing machines and educate patients on topics such as breastfeeding, maintaining a healthy pregnancy, etc. Working here, I 've been able to witness many situations that drive me to want to succeed as a doctor, such as being able to assist patients who are in active labor or empowering patients to take better care of their health.
Having lived in the area for over 25 years, I am deeply rooted in the business and social networks. I take the greatest of pride in being friendly, when possible. Yet, I have the natural competitive nature, passion for real estate, and ability to be aggressive, when necessary, to help every client get the best deal and terms. Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, I am fluent in both Spanish and English. At age seven, I moved to Miami.
Throughout middle school, I developed a strong interest in law, which I never lost. Because of this, I began doing extensive research on the qualifications and prospective career pathways in law, and this sparked my interest in becoming a City Attorney. Due to my growing passion, I started taking several classes through the Northwest Iowa Community College to get a jump start on my education. Since then, I've studied a variety of psychology courses along with others like Social Issues, Introduction to Political Science, and Introduction to Criminal Justice. These classes have taught me an immense amount about our political systems, and I will be able to apply my newly-found knowledge in my future endeavors.
My career goal is to one day become a lawyer. My road on this career path began when I attended Queensborough Community College majoring in Criminal Justice. At the time my aspirations was having a career in law enforcement. After receiving my associate degree, I continued my education at SUNY Old Westbury majoring in Criminology. It is here, where I learned more about criminality from a systematic perspective; but also from a sociological view.

I am applying for the Research Analyst position at Business Insider in New York City, an opening I learned of through LinkedIn’s explore page. I am applying because I am drawn to Business Insider’s storied success in the data-driven business news space, and specifically with its application of innovative research to offer their users a competitive, meaningful edge. As I am currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in economics and philosophy at Pace University, I believe my divergent studies and experience offer a unique, applicable perspective towards data analysis and research. Economics helps me analyze and interpret data, and provides the tools to produce pragmatic solutions. For my economic thesis, I analyzed The Effect Terrorism and Refugee Populations have on Western European Tourism Revenue, and it was because of the skills I learned in my economics courses that I could grasp previous literature, choose acute variables for my equations, and interpret my results.
I would like to end up as a judge of some time career-wise. More immediately, I see myself working a government job while in law school. A government job would hopefully get me good connections for a future career as either a prosecutor or defender. The law career is interesting to me because it is a little bit of every subject. There is a performance aspect to it, especially when considering the public speaking component.
Ever since I was a little, I was fascinated in going to other people’s homes and exploring new neighborhoods. Once I turned twelve I realized my interest in real estate. Every time I went to one of my friends’ houses I always took a tour of every room and left no door unopened. I even searched up apartments in my neighborhood during my free time and compared prices. When I turned thirteen years-old, I went to the Town Residential real estate firm down the block from me and asked for an internship there.
