Throughout my first year of college I took classes involving environmental science and public health because I was leaning towards Environmental Health and Science as my major. However, I still find myself going back to my original childhood ambition of being a mathematician of some sort. After plenty of research I have found that a major in Environmental and Business Economics can lead me to a career as a Water Resources Analyst. This combines both environmental science and mathematics. Within the mathematical field, I have a passion for statistics and analytics. An analyst would need to have an extensive knowledge of related local, state and federal laws and ordinances. Water Resource Analytics must also understand the roles of public agency representatives and government officials associated with water conservation, water planning and water rights ( __). It is of the utmost importance to be able to connect the math and science relations to the capability of enacting change within the bounds of government policy. The ability to prepare and maintain accurate records and files is essential, while also being strongly familiar with databases, spreadsheets and the different softwares that are used. These organizational skills will allow for a smooth and easily detectable system, allowing for a greater likelihood of success. A Water Resource Analyst is also required to ask questions and complete tasks such as review engineering reports, and evaluating how water is being used. With that information, they can submit reports, which verify that the state and federal standards are met. I am drawn towards this field of work because it pushes the limits of a job simply involving mathematics and paperwork. Water quality and conservation are the main focuses in this position, leading me I feel that I will make a difference in local communities. I plan to get my major degree in Environmental and Resource Economics through the EBE (Environmental Business Economics) Program at Rutgers and my minor degree will be of Environmental Science and if possible, Mathematics. I will be taking classes that teach me about elements of water, water waste treatments and water chemistry to give me the background knowledge necessary for Water Resource Analysis. I also want to have a strong mathematical background for the complex information systems to access and analyze data. It is important that I take classes and attend seminars to remain up to date with latest technology as it changes regularly and as new softwares are introduced. Aside from being able to analyze data, I must also be able to apply my analysis to real world
