In the ever-changing world of modern industry, the role of a professional psychologist is becoming increasingly vital. With the aspiration of becoming an industrial-organizational (I-O) psychologist, I see myself as a facilitator in the success of organizations, utilizing psychological concepts to improve work conditions, maximize human resources, and promote both individual and group development. In my experience, I believe I've had a wonderful variety of proudly achieved personal moments. A particular experience that comes to mind is becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). My certification in becoming a CNA stemmed from my previous scholarly pursuit of becoming a Registered Nurse (RN). This change in academic pursuits was made through careful consideration and reflection. This decision was not made lightly, but after much thought and self-assessment, I believe that transitioning to psychology aligns more closely with my career goals, interests, and aspirations. However, this change occurred out of a state of great interest in psychology because as a CNA I experienced and saw a lot more of the mental health side, which piqued my interest in psychology. And as an arriving student at CSUMB, I learned more about careers in psychology, which is where I heard about the career of an I-O psychologist.
