Personal Statement: Pursuing A Career In Psychology

Psychology was not always my first choice, I was going to pursue a career in singing or just about anything relating to performing arts was my initial thought. Of course I realized that for me being the person I was, performing arts was not the best route to go about if my primary thought was to help people. I did a lot of research on different majors, I was vigorously researching different types of majors and careers for weeks until I finally decided to do a bit of research on majoring in psychology. I hesitated on the field of psychology for a while until i decided just merely googling would not be detrimental. I came across several sites on psychology and a wide range of career choices. I had not realized which one specifically that I wanted to do, but I knew I wanted to major in Psychology. I had finally decided which career path I was taking and with that I set off to college to become a psychology major. Entering college was the next step I took to initiate my choosing of my future career and it was hard adapting for quite a while. It just about took my whole entire first semester to get use to not being at home and not having anyone there to hold my hand and it was honestly hard. Aside from choosing my career path, adapting to college was probably one of the biggest steps I took towards my future career and it still is currently.
