My life has been impacted personally in so many ways relating to Psychology, that is why I decided to go into a field that uses psychology. I want to become a mental health tech. I am so amazed at what the study of Psychology has to offer and I think with my personal experiences I will do very well as a mental health tech. I have always wanted to help people and have been an advocate for my own children; my son has diagnoses of OCD and ADHD and my youngest daughter is Bipolar. I think through the ups and downs of dealing with the mental health professionals personally has made me see a real need for quality personnel who actually care about their clients. The stigma associated with a mental health diagnosis is a very hard obstacle to overcome and I think education is definitely the way to begin the conversation. Personal decisions are definitely a psychological aspect that involves significant mental processing, by understanding the psychological process behind decision making you can learn to make wiser decisions in all aspects of your life. I always try to weigh the pros and cons of a decision before jumping in head first. Even when I am almost positive as to which decision is right I take the time to really look at the entire situation. Also make sure to look into the future repercussions of that decision; remember that each decision you make will have lasting effects. I think this is why my decision to go back to school at this point in my life. My children are almost all grown and it is time for me to take a serious look at my own future. I have always worried about everyone else’s needs and never put myself as a priority. It is very scary to realize that I have no security in my career and no benefits,
