CAREER FOCUS
I am passionate about student learning & the improvement in their attitudes toward learning particularly improving the Numeracy & Literacy, social relationships & the fundamental success of all students. I have taught across the curriculum from Reception to 7 & consider my philosophy of engaging students through a positive, open & empathetic style to be highly successful. My teaching has included supporting students with severe & multiple disabilities, classroom & small group Literacy & Numeracy support, as well as tutoring Year 8, 9 & 10 Aboriginal Students.

Strategies & expectations created collaboratively with students ensure they feel their ideas are valued & respected. This also allows students to develop a sense of ownership in their learning environment & ensures the fairness of classroom expectations & consequences.

As part of my behaviour management plan, I engage students in discussions regarding the consequences of both responsible behaviours & inappropriate behaviours. Therefore, students develop genuine personal responsibility & begin to make choices about their behaviour. By modelling responsible & appropriate behaviours, I am able to encourage students to make good choices & develop resilient practices. As a classroom teacher, I implement & have an sound understanding of the importance of effective assessment & reporting procedures. These include continuums, outcome based assessments, student led interviews, reporting ACARA outcomes & the use of assessment rubrics. I understand the principles of Literacy programs & have experience delivering Jolly Phonics in a Literacy program at several schools. I have been successful in instigating a Balanced Literacy program that explicity provides Year 4/5 students a range of opportunities that involve talking, veiwing, thinking, reading, writing & spelling. I also utilise Spelling Matrices that focus on phonics, prefixes & suffixes, word origins & topic specific language &
