It is my firm belief that the CPA license is an assurance of quality. The task of obtaining this license takes a lot of hard work and persistence. This in itself is the reason why I believe that obtaining a CPA license would be beneficial to my career path. It validates to potential future employers that, as an accountant, I have mastered key concepts of the profession while on the other hand it gives a similar assurance to clients. In addition to obtaining the license, it is my belief that an effective CPA should also show leadership and ethical behavior. Effective CPA's have the value of leadership because in the accounting profession it is very important to be an excellent mentor. As the person in charge, it is important to know how to balance being in charge as well as being part of a team. Another value, that in my opinion, is non-negotiable in our profession is being ethical. The client's and the public's trust should never be taken lightly therefore as a CPA we have an obligation to act in an ethical manner. In 2010, I started working as an accountant for a non-profit organization in Puerto Rico. It was my proactive outlook and my willingness to help others that allowed me to be promoted to the position of senior accountant. Leadership tendencies were the main qualities that helped me be considered for this position. It is very important to me that everyone around me can have the tools and the means necessary to understand and obtain the same accounting knowledge that I have. This is why I am constantly helping my coworkers when they have a difficulty in their work or why I am always tutoring my classmates in accounting
