Turning to 2016, I began my legal career as a paralegal specialist at the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia. In less than a year, I was promoted to a trial attorney. I have practiced law in four divisions, primarily focusing on civil enforcement. In my current role, I supervise interns with two colleagues. As a team, we make ourselves available for mentoring and provide regular follow-up on their development.
Introduction For most of my life I have been curious about what it was like inside of a jail or prison. Of course I never wanted to be an inmate, but I was interested in seeing it through the eyes of a Correctional Officer. About four years ago, I met Jess Greenlee at an anime convention and immediately we became friends, she was still in college at the time to become a correctional officer, and boy did I have questions for her. Throughout these four years, Officer Greenlee knew of my curiosity, so when the time came to do my job shadow, she was the first person to step up to the plate.
I have recently completed my undergraduate studies in criminal justice and I was one of the best students in my class. My concrete action all through my undergraduate studies was to prove the doctrine that nearly 100% of a person’s success is attributed to their diligence. At the onset of my undergraduate studies I made a resolve to make use of the educational resources that were available in school so as to improve my knowledge on criminal justice. Throughout my stay in school I performed well in my academics and I also got involved in a number of cocurricular studies thus making myself an all rounded student.
In a rural town in Upstate New York, I reside with my husband of 19 years together we have a daughter who is 17 and a son who is 13. Olivia will be going to Medialle College in Buffalo, New York this fall, and Louis will play modified football for the Whitesboro Football team. We are looking forward to retirement and leaving the chaotic weather cycle in New York. My goal is to retire as a corrections officer and further my career as a corrections consultant. July 20, 1992 I started my career as Corrections Officer at the County Sheriff 's Office.
Having already earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology and criminal justice, I am currently applying to a master’s in public policy and administration program with a specialization in criminal justice policy and administration. It is my career goal to address criminal justice issues, such as mass incarceration, through research, program development and evaluation, and policy analysis, especially as they affect the most vulnerable members of our society. Although the Spring 2016 Criminal Justice Research Internship was posted over a month ago, I am still going through with this submission because it is exactly the type of work I want to do and I believe that criminal justice reform hinges on the collaboration between local and state agencies.
At a very early age I’ve always had a problem with injustices and often analyzed how they could possibly be corrected. From this derived my desire to become a lawyer as a teenager leading possibly to a judge. In my initial entrance into higher education I chose another path for personal reasons thus prolonging my desire to enter law school. After several years passed I realized that I’ve been delaying my entry into the justice system and decide recently to go back to school for my passion. Immediately I began to research schools for criminal justice degrees and came across CSU Global.
In earlier years, I had worked and committed my experience to investigating, dissecting, and developing information inside my humanitarian effort during the Obama menstruation political campaign. While also performed tasks such as canvassing, data file, and entry, answering phone calls, and other means of customer service, during my time with this volunteer group. For this reason, my volunteer work with this campaign helped give me a sense of insight and involvement that I can later apply to my lifelong hopes and dreams. By obtaining a Master of Legal Studies degree, I hope to further my roles and impact in the careers and avenues God can potentially lead me to be in. For the most part, a Master of Legal Studies degree to me is a degree that can not only broaden my horizon in increasing my skills and knowledge in and outside of the legal studies field.
Throughout my life I have gone through many phases of career choices but one has been most prevalent and recurring. Criminal justice and law has been a career field which I have taken interest in since I was young. In recent years I have looked more past law into the field of forensic science to solidify the career I hope to one day have as I have found a strong passion for science inside myself. Forensic science and law are different but also codependent in a way. These two fields overlap in that forensic evidence is many times the foundation for a lawyer’s case yet the forensics team has to follow the law that accompanies evidence collection and examination.
Providing legal assistance in a helpful and effective way is something I am very passionate about. As a third year Legal Studies and History student at the University of Wisconsin - Madison I have spent a lot of time closely analyzing legal issues to find satisfactory solutions. I think I am a good candidate for the UW Law School’s Wisconsin Innocence Project internship because I have a desire to learn and understand the law through close observation and because I have experience navigating customer service and interpersonal interactions in a responsive and positive manner. Through my experiences studying Legal Studies, History, and Criminal Justice I have acquired an interest in pursuing law post-graduation. In doing this coursework as well as maintaining membership of the UW-Madison Pre-Law Society for 2.5 years I have been exposed to a variety of different types of law, but through my focus on criminal
My name us Dulcie Brennan and I am in my first year of Sixth Form at Trent College in Long Eaton, Derbyshire. I am writing to ask if you would consider an application from me for work experience with you during summer 2017. Over the past couple of years I have sought out experience relevant to my interests in a career in law and public relations. I recently undertook a week long placement at Northamptonshire County Council; I worked in Democratic Services and spent time interviewing councillors and performing administration tasks.
I know what degree and career I want to pursue. Computer Engineering is what I like because the curriculum fits my academic interests, and the professional opportunities this degree opens, match the career I long for. The fact that studying computer engineering will allow me to pursue the career I want is important for me because I know I will spend a good portion of my life working. Enjoying my future career is something I am taking into account when choosing the degree that I want to study since being happy and motivated while working will allow me to perform my job correctly and have a better life. Also, there is a high demand of computer engineers.
For over 20 years, I have dreamed of completing my Master’s Degree. Over the years, my motivation may have changed a bit; but, my desire to reach my goal has never faltered. In my twenties, I just wanted to make more money. Then, as I settled into various positions, I just wanted to do it for the sense of accomplishment. I wanted to be an example to my daughter.
My interest in participating in this program has developed as a result of the benefits I gained from my first study abroad program. Last summer I studied abroad for the first time in Florence, Italy, as part of the UNL Interdisciplinary Arts and Culture study abroad program and the experience had a positive impact on me academically, professionally, and personally. One way in which my study abroad program positively impacted me academically was by equipping me with background knowledge on the subjects that I would be studying upon my return in the fall semester. For instance, this past fall semester when I took a course in Renaissance Art History I was better able to recall information about Renaissance art during exams because the background knowledge I acquired about Renaissance Art while studying abroad in Florence, Italy, the birthplace of the Renaissance, reinforced the information I had been learning in the classroom.
