I know what degree and career I want to pursue. Computer Engineering is what I like because the curriculum fits my academic interests, and the professional opportunities this degree opens, match the career I long for. The fact that studying computer engineering will allow me to pursue the career I want is important for me because I know I will spend a good portion of my life working. Enjoying my future career is something I am taking into account when choosing the degree that I want to study since being happy and motivated while working will allow me to perform my job correctly and have a better life. Also, there is a high demand of computer engineers. This is a fact to consider since not having a job after studying a degree would be really stressful. I have always questioned things and made inferences. I love challenging myself and helping other solve their problems with technology. To get to solve some of the issues I find, I sometimes have to do some research online and to self-study some topics. I used to help my parents and grandparents when they required me; those challenges were the ones that awoke my passion for computers. Since then, I have been expanding my knowledge on computers, both by myself and at school. In Adlai E. Stevenson High School, I have been taken classes related to computer engineering such as AP Computer Science and Digital Electronics. These classes not only have allowed me to learn new concepts, but to develop team working skills and participate in different types of competitions; one of them was the IDEA which was a 3D CAD modeling competition. After I had succeeded in the regional phase, I qualified for the State competition.. In my free time, I often work on technology projects I find online.
