Being involved in the learning process of others is vitally important to me. I believe that as an educator, we have the capability and responsibility to help mold not only students educational goals, but to help mold them into successful adults that sill contribute to society. Many times during my life I have been a teacher, a counselor, a cheerleader and a role model for my students. Every student is at a different point in their learning process and cycle, and a good educator can find that point and capitalize on what the student needs next.
I am the first person in my family to attend and graduate from college. Pushing this type of learner to try something with a little risk and influencing change will be my focus. Being aware of my learning style and those of my students will make me a better educator. Since I will be teaching younger children I must be creative in ways to assess their learning style and be willing to take the time to get to know each one of
Education is the most important part of a child's development. If we look closer at education, we can see that it is more than just the subjects being taught, it is also the connections the student makes across their life. Schools are the social development grounds for children to teenagers, fostering relationships one will probably never see again in their lifetime. These diverse communities are essential to a child's development, opening their eyes to lives outside their own will create a welcoming environment among students. That is why I feel that the education field is one of the most important jobs in the world.
These are my primary goals as an educator because I believe they are the foundations that lead to becoming a successful student and a well-rounded citizen. As I process and reflect on the new CCSS and 21st century learning skills, I find that my own pedagogy aligns well with these standards. Their written articulation encompasses good teaching and learning practices that are beneficial not only for K-12 students
I believe the fundamental goal of teaching is to foster and facilitate learning. Education takes place in many assorted circumstances and contexts. Every student is capable of learning, but a student's desire to learn as well as their individual learning styles are essential to how they master new concepts and skills. It is vital for educators to utilize an array of teaching methods and accommodate a variety of learning styles to create an atmosphere that is conducive to student learning. My interest in the subject, as well as my passion and enthusiasm for teaching and learning, help my students have not only an increased willingness to learn, but also a desire to put forth the effort needed to ignite the spark that will kindle the flame
I have a desire to lead in an educational capacity that will bring about academic growth and innovation within our classrooms. I want to support educators to be thoughtful with the methods selected to prepare, deliver, and reflect on instruction to ensure the greatest impact on students growth. My philosophy is that our educational community should be one of a holistic and reflective approach to meeting the needs of our students. In order to best meet the needs of our students, it is imperative that staff be given the knowledge, support, and reflective tools to deliver instruction in a manner that students are successful. I desire to support educators through connecting them with the tools they need to create a successful classroom environment.
In the modern era there are many ways to approach education. Everyone has a different belief on how and why we educate. My personal views are a bit of a combination of various ideas ranging from Social Reconstructionism to Essentialism. Personally I believe that education should, if done effectively, teach students all the various approaches to life while doing what they think would be most beneficial to them and their society. They can help reconstruct society and make the world a better or push forth the economy with their ideas.
As an educator, I want to help foster my student's individualistic views and thoughts on the curriculum being taught, which means my own ideas and views will not influence my students. The curriculum brought into my classroom used to educate my students will be neutral on my part as the educator. The curriculum will still be able to provide the necessary skills my students need to form their own points of views and come to their own conclusion based off of their developing ideas and faiths. In the ideal school, educators are able to recognize what is best for the child and is able to supply what is needed, and we find the child learning through the social converse and constitution of the school itself.
Personal Statement of Educational Philosophy Considering my future job placement as an elementary school educator, I believe that my attitudes, background, and basic dispositions align with what I know and believe align with what is expected of people in the education field. Throughout the course, I have gained a better knowledge of my beliefs and attitudes toward teaching. I have learned that in teaching, it is important to not take students personal beliefs and attitudes and use them against them.
However, strategies are flexible, influenced by the curriculum, to teach in a way the students will best understand, be challenged and be engaged (NGSS Life Science, 2015). Assessment is vital, as is ensuring that I cater for students of all ability and development. This makes observation and recording of students and their work mandatory for an effective and productive classroom. It is also important to be thoroughly reflexive of my own practices to improve them. Providing attention to the students and what is happening in their lives is imperative.
I believe that all of the students who enter my classroom can and will succeed. It’s my responsibility to help all of my students reach their full potential, gain knowledge, and skills that they will need in their everyday lives. The teaching in my classroom is student centered and the students should be accountable for their behavior and learning. As a teacher, I’m able to help my students on their quest for knowledge, acquire communication skills, critical thinking skills, and problem solving skills which will allow my students to be life-long learners. By allowing my students to use the tools and their knowledge to discover and implement through other outlets to problem solve.
As a future educator I believe it is important to be working towards building your students’ principles and character along the lines of Kohlberg’s Stages of Moral Development. As a teacher, it is my goal is to have my students grasp and advance through all five stages of development. Children need to learn be accountable for their actions and choices at a very young age and I believe it is my job as an educator to help guide them to understand why their actions have punishments and how should they avoid this. I believe good behaviors and actions should be rewarded, but it is important to avoid an attachment for rewards. To move them to moral understanding and obedience, it is important to have the students learn from each other while also building a teacher-student relationship.
Personal Philosophy Every child is unique with different needs and learning styles. As an educator, I believe that teachers are facilitators in the process of learning. I facilitate children depending on their abilities and learning styles. As an educator providing a safe, conducive and stimulating environment is my priority to develop a child holistically.
Many things play into the role of a professional teacher. The teacher serves as a role model to their students, in some cases the only positive role model a child sees. Failing to act in a professional may lead to setting a bad example to the students and cause the students to lose respect for the teacher. A teacher must maintain the respect of not only their students, parents, but also their colleagues, and administrators and provide their students with the best education while demonstrating professionalism in all parts of their career. When teachers interact with students and parents, teachers must understand there is a fine line between being a caring teacher and a friend to the student or the parent.
