Employability skills Employability skills are range of specialist skills that are required for a specific job position. These skills are also transferable between jobs, as a result makes the individual more employable for a wide range of careers. Employability skills are essential for all employees as it enables them to be able to work effectively and cope with the changes in a new environment i.e. workplace. The purpose of employability skills is to make you eligible to apply for the job, therefore they are the essential requirements a candidate must have in order for them to apply for the job. As Uxbridge College is an outstanding college in the London Borough of Hillingdon, therefore they tend to demand for suitably skilled and well trained staff members who can offer young adults with the correct education, in order to help them achieve their goals. If you have successfully met the essential requirements of having a suitable qualification, then you will be able to complete your daily tasks more effectively and you will tend to find it easier to cope with the changes in your workplace. Therefore, it is possible that they will recruit well-trained and well- educated lecturers who have achieved good qualifications for the course they are applying for, in comparison to other job positions and other schools in the borough. For example, if Uxbridge College were advertising a job for a Mathematics Lecturer, then they will shortlist those candidates who have a degree in Mathematics or either Science or computing and an advanced level teaching qualification. Those candidates who meet these qualifications will be eligible to apply for that job, therefore those candidates will be taken into consideration by Uxbridge College. However, qualifications are not always used for competence, the purpose of qualifications imply that you have successfully completed schooling or training, therefore you have the necessary achievement or degree to be worthy of that job position. Qualifications are formal requirements needed to be entitled for the job, in order to make yourself more marketable, so that you can be eligible to apply for a higher job position at Uxbridge
