Obesity is a growing problem in the United States; however, it is a fixable problem. Obesity is certainly a problem; you don’t have to look back too far to see that obesity in the United States is growing at an alarming rate. There have been several attempts to fix the obesity problem; however, the increasing obesity rate will show that they aren’t working. Fixing the problem will take several things: changing the country’s food environment, giving people more incentive to stay fit, and people taking responsibility for their own well-being.

Although, it is very doable with some changes to the way that people live. Along with some changes to the country’s food environment. The country’s food environment right now is based heavily on fast food and foods high in preservatives. This is one of the main problems that is causing people to have trouble managing their weight. Having healthy foods available for people to buy is critical to keeping people healthy and physically fit. “In the U.S. and many parts of the world, the so-called food environment -the physical and social surroundings that influence what we eat- makes it way too hard to choose healthy foods, and way too easy to choose unhealthy foods” (Toxic 2014). Depending on where people live in the U.S., being able to buy healthy foods can be quite difficult. Also, certain seasons of the year make it easier to get fresh, healthy foods than others. “People will have a hard time eating healthfully if healthy foods just aren’t available where they live.” (Toxic 2014) Having access to healthy foods at all times, no matter where people are living is going to be a key part of lowering
