For this paper on social analysis of a formal organization, I will be speaking about the first official job I ever had. The first place to hire me was UPS. Not the little store, but the actually factory. It was my very first working experience, the summer of graduating High School. Before applying for the job I didn't know too much about UPS. All I knew was that they were a shipping company and were famous for their brown trucks. During the application process, we were taken on a tour of the factory. In order to the factory to move smoothly there had to be a Bureaucracy approach. The factory has many moving parts, starting with the Unloaders who unload boxes from the trucks coming in from across the U.S. Those boxes would then be put on a conveyor belt that lead to the sort ill. The social organization was normative. The ideal standard or model, or being based on what is considered to be the normal or the correct way of doing something. Your focus was to be on your work at all times, but didn't mind if you talked while completing the job. When the full time managers were around the environment changed to more of a Utilitarianism social environment. Everyone had to keep quiet and focus on your work. When he was around everyone made sure to follow all the rules for handling packages. While working there I witnessed a huge battle between my full time manager and a unloader.
