This is because we have been genetically modifying food for an extremely long time. Through genetic modifications we turned grass into corn and changed carrots to give us more nutrients. Multiple food producing companies, however, have been taking the science behind modifying organisms to the extreme, causing distrust among people everywhere. According to the National Research foundation, if we are extra careful with how we modify these crops, we could find many ways to improve the environment without any negative changes falling upon us, meaning, we could fix the problems that the authors of “GMO’s Myths and Truths” had been trying to present. With no need to use pesticides on crops, the quality of soil will improve. They can also be modified to fight against certain diseases and blights with a greater chance at surviving. The ability to fight against these presented plant health problems will also allow us to live with less worry when it comes to the safety of the crop we could be eating. If more crops survive, we will be able to feed more people and the world in general could start heading in a good direction when it comes to world hunger.
