Romeo and Juliet is still considered one of the most prominent plays to ever be written. Romeo and Juliet was a famous play created by William Shakespeare in 1596. It was a play portraying the theme of young love and the chaos and passion of being in love. William Shakespeare originally created the play for an audience of everyone, and with the play becoming continuously popular for centuries, it has now been replenished in many different versions through the years. Often, classic literature, including Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, is used as a basis for others to create their own interpretations, keeping some things and changing others. A major difference I noticed was that Gnomeo & Juliet didn't have the same death ending as the Shakespeare play and instead had the gnome owners falling in love, making the “Capulets and Montagues” family. Another major difference that was evident was the fact that Gnomeo and Juliet had gnomes instead of actual humans. As regards resemblances, the Gnomeo and Juliet movie has the relation of having families that hate each other and can never be seen with each other. One more resemblance to the Shakespeare version I noticed was at the end of the Gnomeo & Juliet movie, where both families end up forgiving each other and calling for a truce. With some of the divergences from the Gnomeo & Juliet, I think the biggest impact it had from the original Shakespeare play was the fact that the movie had a happy ending and no one died in the movie. This did end up making the movie have a different climax and changing it drastically from its origination. The final variant of Romeo and Juliet I'm analyzing will be the Romeo & Juliet DeCaprio
