Have you ever really connected with a character from a book or movie? In the book “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins, you get to read about this amazing girl, Katniss Everdeen, and the trials she goes through, starting at age 11. A young girl turns into a woman. She portrays many traits that are at the core of all humans, including perseverance, self-growth, and the ability to make and really rely on them. She did this, knowing the consequences would surely be horrible if the capital was found out. She could be killed or, worse, be turned into an Avox (a slave of the capital with their tongue cut out). But she still did it to keep her family alive. The fact she has done this at age 16, something not a soul has ever done in District 12, means so much, because this shows how much she cares about her family and will do anything to protect them. Even if it means putting herself into the Hunger Games in her sister's place, finally, near the end of the Hunger Games, the rules say there must be one winner.
