From a young age, my parents introduced me to science by the books lying around our home. I instantly took a liking to all sciences, and by the time I was in middle school, I had gathered an impressive repertoire of scientific knowledge. Combine this with the fact that my father is an influential doctor who showed me around hospitals and nursing homes, allowing me a glimpse into the beautiful profession of saving people’s lives. I believe that the feeling one gets from allowing another person to live longer, even if for a short while, is the most satisfying emotion one can feel. As of lately I have been volunteering and taking classes to further my medical knowledge, and after having done these activities, I have only received positive feedback to continue on my path to becoming an Interventional Cardiologist. Upon being prompted by an email, I discovered this program and immediately realized the opportunity. I was originally planning to only apply to Rice University, which is known for its prestigious premedical program.I was elated to find out, that there was a program to directly allow me entry to the equally prestigious Baylor College of Medicine program. Science has always been a hobby for me, be it reading about or conducting do-it-yourself experiments. As I began high school, I soon realized the paramount importance of mathematics in pursuing my dreams and have begun reading about mathematics as well. I find these activities enjoyable simply because I learn more about the world around myself whether it is sociology or modern physics. I believe that there is some application of everything a person learns and so it is better to be prepared than not.
