I believe the leadership skills I have developed through my experiences are being confident, responsible, and patience. I have attained these qualities through my involvement in Youth Lead, Personal Best Karate, and Kumon Learning Center. Youth Lead is a program for teens, run by teens in order to build the next generation of community leaders. Through training, mentoring, regular meetings, and activities from this program, I have gained the confidence to lead projects independently and facilitate difficult conversations. This program has encouraged me to initiate a club similar to Youth Lead at Sharon High School. Additionally, I have been a student at Personal Best Karate for the last twelve years and have gone through rigorous training programs for my black belt. Embedded within the black belt program are the leadership qualities that have transformed me into a confident and responsible individual. From assisting younger children during karate classes, I can speak confidently and act responsibly by being a role model for young kids. In addition to helping kids at karate, I am also a teacher at Kumon Learning Center. This position has given me the responsibility to mentor and help kids gain confidence in their learning abilities. I have also learned to be patience when working with a large group of kids. Lastly, my role as the head youth volunteer of the Sharon Color Walk/Run has contributed to my leadership skills.
