I do agree with Evans and Alire in their agreeing with Dana Rooks; of course I want to be someone who develops in to a leader! We’ve learned through this class that “management is the art of getting things done through people” (Mary Parker Follett, 1941). This chapter tells us leadership is depends upon people- “a leader without followers leads nothing” (p.321), without people nothing can be done through them, which to me makes management and leadership go hand in hand. As Elliot taught us in the film from the last RDP, people want to do meaningful things with their life, I know I do, but also I would also like to help people achieve a purpose and accomplish their meaningful goals. I know that can’t be done through simple management but more so through coaching, mentoring and modeling, also discussed in the chapter.
As a spokesperson, I want to empower teachers to be leaders in and out of the classroom. The key to raising achievement for all students is to empower teachers to lead and transform the teaching profession. Every child has the right to an education and the potential to learn. As educators, we have a great responsibility to serve as advocates for the students we serve. All children, regardless of their background, must be taught to believe they can succeed.
My passion for education and athletics is what started my career as a teacher. Now, each passing day is a reflection my desire to impact students and student-athletes in a positive way. As a coach, I am the leader of a team. It means leading your team to pursue greatness and success, even through challenges and change. I have tackled issues such taking a losing football team build enough confidence to finish third in the district.
T As a principal, one must be an effective leader to create a school environment that enables the faculty and staff to improve student achievement, the main objective of any school. As an effective principal, I will constantly look for data and make necessary changes to the school strategic plan to improve the student performance. As a steward, and visionary leader, the principal must buy in as much as from everyone inside the building. Leading by example, set forth a positive climate, communicating effectively with stake holders and set a strategic direction for school are some of the characteristics of an exceptional leader. Ideally, all activities and programs within the school should be aligned to the strategic goals set by the planning committee.
With every passing school year, I find myself taking on new challenges and striving to become better. As I load my schedule with AP and Dual Enrollment courses, the long sleepless nights of studying and completing stacks of rigorous coursework serve as a constant reminder that working hard isn't optional. I truly value education and thoroughly believe that the work I'm doing now will pay off in the future. This conviction fuels my motivation to succeed and always put forth my best effort. Tackling a hectic extracurricular schedule while managing the workload of advanced courses has quickly shown me the importance of staying organized, keeping track of assignments, and managing my time wisely.
I grew up surrounded by sports and team activities and I have learned many different ways to be a leader. My personal leadership plan involves improving the quality of my work and the amount of effort being put into completing each task. Showing the amount of effort I put into my daily tasks will hopefully help everybody around me to always give their best effort as well. I like to be proactive in what I do to have easier success, so as a leader I believe in proactive change that continues to help make my business successful. As a leader, I want to have power over everybody, but in a positive way.
Finally, I will describe the way I want my subordinates, peers, and supervisors to perceive me as a leader. From the enlightenment of the Noncommissioned Officer Academy Intermediate Leadership Experience course, I have realized that I show behaviors of different leadership tendencies that make up the type of leader
My goals are to drive the organization further, as well as actively listening to and supporting my employees and colleagues. I will strive to consistently improve the skills and competencies of myself and others. My leadership style is better known as empathetic leadership. I believe good leadership is found in patience and acknowledgement
When I lead by providing opportunity to others, I am investing in the individual, which reflects onto the betterment of the organization. c. Accomplish Goals. Reaching goals do not come easy. However, as I continue to set the example and gain experience, my personal and organizational goals become attainable. I am to master my proficiencies and improve upon areas of vulnerability in order to accomplish my goals.
Over the years, there have been debates about lowering the drinking age in the United States to eighteen. People argue that if a person can fight in the military or vote in elections, then he or she should be allowed the right to drink alcohol. Others feel that it is not wise to lower the legal drinking age because the results would be dangerous. Although there are arguments for lowering the drinking age, there is also an abundance of research that proves lowering the drinking age would be destructive. The legal drinking age should not be lowered to eighteen because it will give high school and even middle school students greater access to alcohol, interfere with brain development, adult rights begin at twenty-one, and increase traffic accidents among the youth.
Leadership is a very interesting thing, as many covet leadership positions throughout society, and even throughout high school, for various reasons. A number of people tend to desire these positions for reasons that are typically born out of selfish motives, such as having power and control over others or some sort of prestige. However, I sincerely believe that leadership can not purely be a title or a position conferred upon a person, but instead, a responsibility that an individual must accept, to take care of a group of people and help them reach an end goal. A critical part of leadership is putting one’s time and energy into developing and taking care of those who work in their team. Helping people grow and become better equipped to reach their goals is something that leadership should be about, not the prestige, power, or flashy titles.
Leadership is not something we were born with, it’s a skill we work on improving as long as we are willing to make a change towards a better society, community and other things we want to have impact on. A leader is a person, who can be comfortable being outside his comfort zone, for me it’s like living in a higher reality, and can inspire other people. A leader can make huge changes in the reality, being a leader is like coming up with more powerful ideas and future with anyone involved. I wish to have the chance to improve my leadership skills with IYLEP program to be able to put myself in the right track of leadership by studying it, I want to become a person who can motivate people and convince them to go through new paths .
Leadership is a skill that not many people can not say they have. People would rather follow others instead of build off their own ideas because, they feel insecure off their own beliefs. Being the oldest in my family, I was born into the leadership position. Leadership comes with responsibility as well as great use of judgment. For one to simply become better at his/her use of judgment they must realize three things.
Personal Leadership Development Plan 16010060 “Leadership is the capacity to translate vision in to reality through planning” Warren Bennis I view leader as a person who is able to identify mutual goals and destinations. In order to achieve these goals successful, leaders establish a plan that could help them organize and ensure that they have an appropriate strategy and a well communicated team to execute the plan. Keeping in view the guidelines provided in the Harvard Business Review (HBR) “From purpose to impact” I made this workbook which will serve as a guide line that will articulate my vision my goals and commitment to the specific actions that I will be setting for myself.
Purpose of being a Leader “Some suggest that the purpose of leadership is to deliver results through others. Others see the leader’s purpose as developing more leaders. Even others see the leader’s primary responsibility is to make the vision come to fruition. I believe that effective leaders do all these things and more”. S. Chris Edmonds on April 13, 2015 I strongly believe my responsibility as a leader starts from people and it ends with people.
