Although there are many other people to choose from, Lindsay Lohan is a great example of a modern tragic hero. She grew up in the wealthy parts of the Long Island suburbs located in New York. Both her parents had very profitable jobs. Her father took over his family's business as well as being a banker, and her mother worked as an analyst. Lindsay’s tragic flaw is impulsiveness.
A child relies on his parents and is foolish from time to time. A child could also represent the ever so often hero, Odysseus from the Odyssey by Homer. The Odyssey is an epic poem about the mortal Odysseus and his journey to get home and at Ithaca, with the help of the greek goddess Athena. Throughout the poem, Odysseus is generally seen as a hero when Athena helps him, but once in awhile he can act like a hero without any help, but is otherwise selfish without it.
With their classroom perspective, teachers an advantage that many administrators and policy makers do not possess. Teachers not only have a better understanding of what changes should be implemented but are also able to see these changes at work and make necessary adjustments along the way. Within our educational system, we must make it a priority to invest in efforts that support teachers in leading from the classroom, acknowledging that teachers are the true experts in their field. T As a principal, one must be an effective leader to create a school environment that enables the faculty and staff to improve student achievement, the main objective of any school. As an effective principal, I will constantly look for data and make necessary changes to the school strategic plan to improve the student performance. As a steward, and visionary leader, the principal must buy in as much as from everyone inside the building. Leading by example, set forth a positive climate, communicating effectively with stake holders and set a strategic direction for school are some of the characteristics of an exceptional leader. Ideally, all activities and programs within the school should be aligned to the strategic goals set by the planning committee.
With every passing school year, I find myself taking on new challenges and striving to become better. As I load my schedule with AP and Dual Enrollment courses, the long sleepless nights of studying and completing stacks of rigorous coursework serve as a constant reminder that working hard isn't optional. I truly value education and thoroughly believe that the work I'm doing now will pay off in the future. This conviction fuels my motivation to succeed and always put forth my best effort. Tackling a hectic extracurricular schedule while managing the workload of advanced courses has quickly shown me the importance of staying organized, keeping track of assignments, and managing my time wisely.
I am a current high school English teacher. I manage my classroom as though I am managing managers and or teacher. I present my students with added responsibility on top of their classroom assignments to not only ensure that are retaining the classroom lessons, but taking ownership in what they learn. I practice leadership in my classroom by not only teaching my students the lesson content, but leading them in the right direction in which the content will benefit them the most, according to God’s chosen path for each individual student in my classroom. As a leader, I exemplify the behavior of leadership by portraying professionalism by acting in an ethical and moral manner, having high set values and honesty inside and outside of the classroom,
In the Cambridge Dictionary, leadership, is defined as people who are in charge of a government or a group. The Cambridge Dictionary also defines leadership as having the quality or ability that makes a person a leader, or the position of being a leader. I agree with the Cambridge Dictionary; However, I must add, that leaders are not born with these abilities, but they are molded by pinacol points within their life that paved the path to become a great leader. In our history we have heard and read of many leaders that transformed our very present life. Although their approach was unique they all had one thing in common, a vision.
There are many things that I would like to accomplish over the next 3 to 5 years. The one thing that I would like to complete over all others is being commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force by way of Officer Training School (OTS). I will first explain the type of leader I believe I am now. Then I will illuminate how I plan to improve my leadership effectiveness over the next three to five years and reach my goal.
As a coach I would use strategies that are simple. I would maintain a coaching mind-set. I would make sure I stay in a coaching frame of mind at all times. On a daily basis I will make sure I educate and motivate individuals. Let individuals know that my main goal is not to fix or change them but to help them become better individuals.
PERSONAL LEADERSHIP PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT In my approach to leadership I center on the values of serving others, showing empathy and striving for growth. I advocate for creating an environment built on trust, mutual respect and transparent dialogue, ensuring that each team member is appreciated and encouraged to give their all. As a leader, my dedication lies in supporting others by comprehending their aspirations and nurturing their progress and evolution. Through leading with empathy, honesty, and a results-oriented mindset, my goal is to spark transformations and propel shared achievements.
1. I want everyone to feel like they belong in our community, whether it be the University, or the larger Dayton area. Making people feel welcome can be done by accepting and celebrating all different people. John Steinbeck said this of understanding people“If you understand each other you will be kind to each other. Knowing a man well never leads to hate and almost always leads to love.”
What makes a leader? In today's world a leader is smart, responsible, brave, well spoken, respected, understanding, empathetic, aware, attentive, honest, trustworthy, helpful, loyal, encouraging, including, kind, caring, accepting, and honorable. Living up to this criterion is quite difficult, but staying poise under pressure is key to being successful. It all comes down to time management. All my life I believe I somehow live up to most of this criteria.
Throughout my high school years it has been very important to me that I put myself in positions of leadership. One of my most important leadership positions is that I’m the Energy and Environment Committee Chair on the Executive Student Council at my school. As a student council member, I am known as one of the leaders of the school. Not only am I leading my fellow peers at pep rallies and school events, but executive council members are also meant to lead our general student council club which is comprised of underclassmen. This leadership experience is incredibly important to me because it gives me the opportunity to be involved in my school and to be a positive influence on the younger people of my school.
Creating structure in the workplace is vital and I believe that setting goals with incentives improves the work of others. I want to be the type of leader that knows the difference between leadership and management. Throughout my years in the military I have always been aware of the power of worthy leadership. To me, a leader is one that influences others to attain the values, work ethic and positive attitude necessary to accomplish the daily mission. As a Senior Human Resources Non Commissioned Officer my leadership philosophy will be to provide the highest quality customer service while simultaneously attending to my Soldier’s needs. In my experience, I have learned positive attributes from past leaders as well as negative and plan to incorporate those lessons to improve myself as a supervisor. To attain this goal I will also focus on these key characteristics to assure maximum potential; adaptability, passion, empathy, and a sense of humor.
