There are several qualities that make a good leader, william golding wrote lord of the flies which describes a leader named ralph who lead a group of boy who were stranded on an island by a fallen. The boy selected ralph over a raise of hands, over his opponent jack. Ralph was a better leader choice over jack because, of his better thinking, ability to prioritize, and selfless personality. Thinking is a fundamental trait, thinking can make or break a leader.
Being a leader involves many different characteristics. A leader must set the example for all others in the group, because if they are to show up late to practice, there isn’t a reason that any of the other members should not do the same. A leader must take risks for the benefit of the group as well as make sacrifices for it. Becoming the leader of the group requires for them to be the most dedicated. They must work harder and not be afraid to lead the group.
Staying determined and never giving up is key to being a great leader, once you have done everything to help somebody as a leader then it is up to them but never give in before the job is
I believe I uphold the leadership characteristics that name a successful leader as well as mentors I have worked with. Additionally, a leader is not born, they are taught. Leadership is gained through experience. Flexibility is a part of leadership because you need to adapt
First and foremost, leaders come in all shapes and forms, there is not one set physical mold for them, but what they all do share are certain characteristics and desires. Leadership in and of itself, is the ability to guide others, take responsibility, and share a vision that inspires and leaves others with a sense of empowerment. Evidently, it takes an exceptional leader to exhibit exceptional leadership skills. Additionally, the most prominent act that all adequate leaders demonstrate is that they are steadily engaged in enhancing their leadership skills. There have been various magnificent leaders throughout history, such as Martin Luther King Jr., Sojourner Truth, Nelson Mandela, and Eleanor Roosevelt.
With every passing school year, I find myself taking on new challenges and striving to become better. As I load my schedule with AP and Dual Enrollment courses, the long sleepless nights of studying and completing stacks of rigorous coursework serve as a constant reminder that working hard isn't optional. I truly value education and thoroughly believe that the work I'm doing now will pay off in the future. This conviction fuels my motivation to succeed and always put forth my best effort. Tackling a hectic extracurricular schedule while managing the workload of advanced courses has quickly shown me the importance of staying organized, keeping track of assignments, and managing my time wisely.
There are many things that I would like to accomplish over the next 3 to 5 years. The one thing that I would like to complete over all others is being commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force by way of Officer Training School (OTS). I will first explain the type of leader I believe I am now. Then I will illuminate how I plan to improve my leadership effectiveness over the next three to five years and reach my goal.
I believe that Leadership, in turn, comes naturally with my personality and my yearning for perfection. I have always been told that I am a good leader and that I listen to others. My leadership skills naturally stem from my character and my morals. I would never influence others to do something that I felt was wrong or immoral. I also feel that my character influences my willingness to serve others.
Why is being a good leader important to me? Growing up I was always told it is important to be a leader not a follower, this gave me high aspirations. Leadership qualities help me meet my high expectations in education, co-curricular activities, volunteering and in my personal time. Leadership helps me to surpass others while reaching for my career goals. I am a student with a very demanding schedule and grades are my top priority.
From the time a student starts school they are taught the dos and don’ts to a successful education. Throughout the years the dos and don’ts adapt to the level of learning the student is in. I think as a student I did a good job with this growing up and do an okay job today. When you’re younger you have the supports of adults that surround you however as an adult it is a bit different. At my point in life I am the support for others and I support myself.
Leadership Personally, I understand that successful leaders acknowledge the fact that individuals, corporations, and even countries hold undiscovered talents and untapped potentials. This group of people pursues to unleash the full capabilities of their members to accomplish the highest results and reach greater heights (Northouse, 2017). Apparently, just because one is a leader, it doesn’t imply that every person wants to follow them. In fact, any person can take the role of leadership, but it doesn’t mean they earn respect, trust, and confidence of the followers. However, the positive thing is that almost every person can possess the critical skills to become a trustworthy and respected leader and those skills can continue to be developed and practiced every single day.
Leadership is something that has always come naturally to me. As the oldest of five children, and the oldest of over thirteen cousins just on one side of the family; I had declared myself the boss early on and found it easy to accept responsibility for things and tell others what to do. I always thought leadership was naturally inherited from whatever experiences one has as a child and their upbringing. Well, this class broke down that barrier and allowed me to see how that belief is very archaic. It was eye opening to realize that leadership is so much more than just trying to be over everyone else and telling others what to do.
What is my leadership philosophy? Over twenty years ago, I raised my right hand and took an oath of office by which I swore to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.” I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. 1. My philosophy of leadership is about collaboration and teamwork. Respecting and treating everyone the same, is key to supporting a good team atmosphere. I believe when a leader puts effort and care into assisting others, then their peers and followers will naturally want to support them. It is also important for a leader to recognize, that advocacy must never become so important that the critical elements of leadership are neglected (e.g. policy enforcement, command support, etc...).
From my point of view , Leadership has more to it than I can possibly imagine. I define leadership as the art of enabling a group of people get to a specific destination. As a leader your main focus was to enable your followers lead theselves. As i think deeper i realise a person cannot choose to be a leader. I think a lot of the time people take on leadership positions without knowing.
