Legal and Ethical Issues in Human Resources Human resources encompass varies functions in an organization including acquisition, development of talent, and maintenance (Dessler, 2013). The functions of human resource personnel are to achieve company goals and objectives through the means of their employees. In their code of ethics the organization outlines harassment as behavior that has the purpose or effect of creating unwelcome, offensive, intimidating or hostile work environments for another person (PetSmart, 2014). The comments Jason made that night were not only sexual in nature but equally offensive and unprofessional. As employees, we were instructed to notify our manager when or if we experienced any form of harassment. The next morning my manager Chris came into work I notified him of the incidents I encountered. Chris did notify my district manager of the incident, but also told all of my coworkers the confidential information I had given him in hopes of finding a resolution towards Jason's unprofessional behavior.
